Helping Children Develop Healthy Eating Habits
Rev, the Healthy Highway mascot, has his own section of the book that includes coloring pages, word searches, and his own "words of wisdom". He loves getting email from kids who are starting down the highway to healthy choices!
"I can't be up front with the adults in a car and be the driver, but I can be the driver in the kitchen!"
-Sophia V. 9 years old from Rochester, NY
Healthy Highway, now in its 10th year, has motivated thousands of school-aged children to change their eating habits and add more physical activity into their daily lives
Welcome to Healthy Highway!
CHILDREN LEARN HEALTHY LIFESTYLES CAN BE FUN!
Healthy Highway uses traffic based concepts as a comparative for developing and practicing a healthy lifestyle for children and the entire family. The award-winning program's "Rules of the Road" addresses healthy eating, the importance of exercise, self-esteem, positive thinking, the importance of listening to what your body is telling you, and much more. It's all incorporated into a variety of activities that quickly becomes second nature. And children find it very rewarding when they realize they are achieving the goals they have set for themselves.
Wendy Cooper developed Healthy Highway over the course of her 30-year teaching career
The vision of Healthy Highway is to educate, motivate, and inspire children and families to choose healthy living. Using traffic metaphors and visual tools, the program is designed to guide and support healthy choices in school, at home, and out in our communities
The goal of Rules of the Road is to provide a "road map" for families to own their choices, take responsibility for those choices and become self-sufficient in creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle
